Swimming classes

Two courses for adults: one from zero, one for people who already swim a little.

Which course is yours

Ask yourself one thing. Can you swim 12 metres, one length of our pool, without standing up? If not, start with Beginners. If yes, but you finish out of breath, take Stroke improvement.

10

Beginners · ₹4,600

Ten classes of 45 minutes, early on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. That is a little over three weeks if you come to every one.

8

Stroke improvement · ₹3,600

Eight evening classes on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 18:30. We look at how you breathe, where your head is and what your legs do. Most people lift the head to breathe and sink at the hips, so that is usually where we begin. The last classes cover backstroke and turning at the wall without stopping.

Beginners, class by class

  1. Stand and breathe. Standing in the shallow end, breathing out under water.
  2. Face in. Goggles on, eyes open, counting the coach's fingers under water.
  3. Back float. Lying back, the coach's hand under your head.
  4. Front float. Face down for a slow count of five.
  5. Glide. Push off the wall holding a kickboard.
  6. Legs. Front crawl kick with the board.
  7. Arms. One arm at a time, the board in the other hand.
  8. Side breath. Turning the head to breathe without lifting it.
  9. 5 metres. First front crawl without the board.
  10. 12 metres. One full length of the pool on your own.

Missed a class? Tell the desk. You can join the next Wednesday, Friday or Sunday group to make it up, if there is a free place.

In the water with you

The coach stands in your lane for the whole class. Groups are six people at most, so nobody waits long for a turn.

Before the first class

Come ten minutes early to change and shower. Tell the coach about any ear, skin, heart or breathing problem before you get in, not after.
